Lights OFF on the Lighting Designer

Lost a dear Friend / a sincere Artist
"Shirish Mohan"

Shrish-1

What is the life of a creative artist ?

it is a life filled with ideas & hope of actualizing the same.
Some kind of mystery goes on inside a creative artist.
The thing that probably keeps him going is the birth he gives to his ideas & the energies that is exchanged on sharing the creation ....that joy & motivation probably gives the artist more strength to stride further.
Creativity is timeless & is the BEST PART of life, but how much time does an artist get to live this Joy?

All these thoughts bombard with a sense of sadness as we lament over the loss of our very dear friend, a highly talented passionate artist - Shirish Mohan.
We fondly addressed as Shrish Sir ,a wonderful creative person who devoted himself completely to the Art of Lighting.
He was the Grandson of the legendary music composer Harmonium Sheshagiri Rao who contributed immensely to the Kannada Theatre. He has done lighting to almost all the dancers of Bangalore.
He passed away yesterday leaving behind a void in the field of dance /theatre.
He was a special human being , pious, god fearing, sensitive ,temperamental & highly contemplative.
He was my lecturer in Stage Design & Lighting at NIKC but more of a close friend.
Shirish Sir was our best tea companion ,i can still hear our conversations on Life,on Bhagavadgeetha,on Art,we would talk for hours on Art & its magic specially during our long train journeys to the various cities we travelled for performances.
Shirish sir was ambitious & strict & used to push us beyond our limits to attain perfection.
We have fought several times but at the end it was all for Quality work.
His thoughts were so much ahead of time that to find a stable support system was quite a challenge.
He had extraordinary dreams for the dance /theatre field.
Shrish Sir was a fantastic writer ( he has written several poems for our productions ) & also a versatile actor !
He has given voiceovers for different characters in our productions.
Rajendra & i greatly admired him for his multi faceted personality.
We have worked together for more than ten years closely bonded with one focus - ART !
Thank you Sir, from the bottom of our hearts for all that you have shared while you were with us.
All of us at Abhinava pray for you.
Everybody is shocked & saddened that so suddenly & unexpectedly the Lights went OFF this wonderful designer.
This is a true loss to the Art field.
We miss you Sir !
With much love & respects
Niru Raju
